Special Education is specially designed instruction that meets the unique needs of a child with a disability.
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
- Any child with a disability who requires special education has the right to a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment.
- Protects children’s rights and the rights of their parents or guardians.
Least Restrictive Environment
- To the maximum extent possible, children requiring special education shall attend regular classes and shall be educated with children who do not require special education.
